BOARD HIGHLIGHTS
Meeting June 22, 2009
- CPC asked to participate in a study of drivers over the age of 70.
- Agreed that the Economic Concerns Committee prepare a response to the findings (when published) of the federal parliamentary committee recently set up to review EI.
Meeting September 21, 2009
- Briefs presented to the All Party Select Committee on Mental Health and Addiction of the Legislature and to the Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs on rural housing issues.
- President is a member of the Central Toronto LHIN's Aging at Home Steering Committee. It has formulated priorities and criteria for year 3 of the Aging at Home funding for projects.
- Funding Proposal Groups and Membership Committee to discuss reaching out to other groups, such as, immigrant groups and faith groups.

RESPONSE TO MENTAL HEALTH PAPER
We would like to applaud the Ontario government, the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and his Advisory Group for the development of a framework for a proposed 10-year mental health and addictions strategy for the province. This initiative reinforces the work of the Mental Health Commission of Canada and its work in developing a national strategy for Canadians' mental health, mental illness, recovery and well-being. .........

I am a pensioner (over 65) and thought that your organization might be interested in noting and perhaps investigating the implications of the following for your clientele.One of my Toronto Dominion RSP-GICs matured a short time ago. PROVINCIAL RENT BANK PROGRAM
The Provincial Rent Bank Program is funded by the Province of Ontario and administered by the province's Municipal Service Managers. The purpose is to provide emergency financial assistance to people facing eviction due to non-payment of rent. A new program, Emergency Rental Deposit Loan Program, provides a loan for the last month's deposit as needed. This loan is interest-free and repayable.
